This tour takes us to discover Angra do Heroísmo, historically the second European Atlantic city, famous in the period of the Portuguese maritime discoveries, as a strategic and priority port for ships, between the 16th and 18th centuries. Angra was a village since 1474, and was elevated to the category of city in 1534. With five centuries of existence, this city has a very rich history, culture, traditions and built heritage, highlighted by the fact that it was classified by UNESCO in 1983, as a world heritage site, due to its architectural, technological and landscape features that illustrate one or more significant periods of human history. Angra keeps its Renaissance appearance intact and is home to fortresses, churches and manor houses.
