On the way to the interior of the island, we have the opportunity to observe the fields where the wild cattle live and the richness of the interior of Terceira Island, preserved and maintained by the locals over the centuries.
 
The trail is located in the center of Terceira island and along the way we will see the endemic flora of the Azores, large pastures and even some of the island’s fauna. Today’s main attraction is the “Rocha de Chambre”, a vertical wall located 708m above sea level, with a splendid view over the Azinhal valley in Pico Alto.
 
After this climb, it’s time to admire the view of the volcanic caldera Pico das Cadeirinhas and Pico Vermelho. The last part of the trail passes through a dry stone wall in an area dominated by Azorean heather, an endemic species of flowers.
 
After lunch, it’s time to be amazed by Algar do Carvão, a volcanic chimney that is undoubtedly the best known volcanic cave in the Azores: by car to Angra do Heroísmo, it’s still time for a brief stop at the Guilherme Moniz caldera, a protected area, characterized by the presence of protected species of Micronesian forest, we will still have time to visit Quinta dos Açores, one of the best places to buy local products.
