Itinerary

We begin this incredible full-day adventure with pick-up in Madalena.

Throughout the tour, we uncover the mysteries of Pico, visiting beautiful lagoons and several scenic viewpoints. We stop at the Mountain House (Casa da Montanha), located at 1,230 metres above sea level, offering breathtaking panoramas and interesting information about the natural reserve. This is also the starting point for those who wish to climb Portugal’s highest mountain.

After a light outdoor meal, the adventure continues. Equipped with helmets and headlamps, we take a guided tour through Gruta das Torres, the longest lava tube in Portugal, stretching over 5,150 metres (3.2 miles). Formed around 1,500 years ago during an eruption from Cabeço Bravo, the cave visit lasts approximately one hour and reveals impressive geological formations such as stalactites, stalagmites, lava benches, lava balls, and more.

After returning to the surface, we drive back to Madalena, concluding a long day filled with natural wonders.
