Itinerary
Start the tour at the Azores Pineapple Plantation and discover how this crop became popular on the island. Learn about its history and production process, despite not being naturally suited to the Azorean climate.
Next, walk through the historic centre of Ponta Delgada and visit the Church of São Sebastião. This is one of the city’s main landmarks, known for its architecture and historical importance.
Continue to Campo de São Francisco, one of the most emblematic squares in the Azores and the largest on São Miguel Island. Surrounded by historic buildings, this area evokes the atmosphere of the Azores in the 19th century.
Then, head to the Ermida da Mãe de Deus and enjoy panoramic views over the Port of Ponta Delgada and much of the city.
End the tour with a visit to Cerâmica Vieira, the first ceramic factory in the Azores. Here, you can observe the entire production process of traditional Azorean clay pottery.
