Itinerary
We will begin our walk at the small fishing port at the foot of the boathouses, where some of the old boats that have been restored are still kept and occasionally used in sailing or rowing regattas. We will also pass by other remnants of the whaling era, such as a lookout post that is now used for whale watching.
The trail guides us through streets between natural pools, along old paths, past houses and backyards, through the forest, pastures, and among vineyards. We will return to Madalena along the south coast, stopping at Lajes do Pico.
The largest parish on the south coast is also referred to as the capital of Whaling Culture.
Here we end our tour with a visit to the famous Whalers Museum.
