If you are planning to fly to the Azores, one of the first important decisions is choosing the airline and departure airport. Although the archipelago has nine islands, not all receive direct international flights. Choosing the right arrival point and route can help you avoid unnecessary layovers and extra costs.
To make your search easier, we’ve compiled all the airlines offering direct flights to the Azores, from mainland Portugal as well as cities across Europe and North America.
The main airline offering Azores flights is Azores Airlines, part of the SATA group. They offer direct flights to São Miguel, Terceira, Faial, Pico, and Santa Maria from Lisbon and Porto, with one of the highest weekly frequencies.

Another airline offering direct flights to the Azores is TAP Air Portugal, connecting Lisbon to São Miguel and Terceira (Lajes). TAP also serves other islands, although with a layover in Lisbon.

If you are in Europe and want non-stop Azores flights, several airlines operate year-round routes:
From the United States, non-stop Azores flights are available via three airlines: SATA Azores Airlines, TAP Portugal, and United Airlines. Departures are from Boston, New York, and Oakland, with flight durations ranging from 5 to 10 hours depending on the city.
From Canada, direct flights operate from Toronto to São Miguel and Terceira (Lajes) with SATA Air Azores. Montreal also offers direct flights to Terceira.
As you can see, there are multiple ways to take direct flights to the Azores from Portugal, Europe, or North America. This makes it easy to select the best island as your entry point and plan the rest of your trip smoothly. Many airlines operate year-round, allowing flexible travel throughout different seasons.
